After a player reaches Level 99 EXT, an NPC called "Arcanoom, the Monk of Awakening" will appear to them in all the guild towns and offer them their choice from among the cards. However, the choice is an illusion as the card is predetermined based on the player's activity.
Gaia can recognize and grant to players based on their observed playstyle, independent of traditional stat-based progression.
Arcanum is also required for most World Items.
Arcanum can be changed with the world item Gaia Manipulator.
