# The World Beyond

### **Trivia**

* The area immediately outside [The Ice Walls](/dim/overworld/zones/the-ice-walls.md) is often collectively called "Atlas" or "The World Beyond." This is the Second Ring of the Earth realm.

### **Locations**

It contains dozens of new continents such as Asgard, Liberia, Hancock, and the Ancestral Lands. The sun that warms Midgard also partially warms this ring, but it may have its own celestial bodies (moons or smaller suns).

### **Inhabitants**

This zone is inhabited by "Breakaway Civilizations", advanced human societies that escaped [The Known World: Midgard](/dim/overworld/zones/the-known-world-midgard.md) in the past (e.g., Atlantis, Hyperborea) and extraterrestrial or silicon species that knows of the inner world.

### Zone Boundaries

Starts after [The Ice Walls](/dim/overworld/zones/the-ice-walls.md) around the XZ coordinates (±7000, ±7000) from XZ: (0, 0).

It is encircled by the [Mountains Rings](/dim/overworld/zones/mountains-rings.md) around the XZ coordinates \
(±20 000, ±20 000) from XZ: (0, 0), which acts as the barrier preventing travel to [The Far World](/dim/overworld/zones/the-far-world.md).
