# v2.0.0 Changelog

Everything new, changed and fixed in ColdMC v2.0.0.

The biggest update ColdMC has ever had. Almost every part of the server was rebuilt: a whole new character system, eight new gear sets, bosses you can summon, achievements, custom fishing and farming, crates, new currencies, and hundreds of fixes to the things you already knew.

Your old progress, ranks, profiles, spawners and items come with you.

***

## Highlights

* **Classes.** Pick between Duelist, Magic Student and Wildling, then specialise into one of nine subclasses, each with its own skill tree and evolutions.
* **Elemental skills.** 50 castable abilities, with 7 skill slots to bind them to.
* **The gear ladder.** Mythril and Iridium are now just the start. Six new sets climb past them: Orichalcum, Titanium, Chlorophyte, Ruby, Uranium and Amber.

* **Achievements.** Over 260 custom achievements in five tabs, with rewards and trophies.
* **Fishing and farming.** A fishing minigame, 125 fish, new rods and baits, custom crops, seasons, competitions and a market to sell it all.

## New features

### Your character

* **Classes.** You start without a class. Reaching **Adventure level 3** lets you choose one of three classes:
  * **Duelist**: Fighter, Archer or Guard
  * **Magic Student**: Mage, Wizard or Priest
  * **Wildling**: Strider, Trapper or Tamer. Wildling starts weaker than the other two classes but grows faster with every level.
* **Subclasses unlock at class level 5.** Each subclass has its own skill tree, and each tree ends in evolutions such as Bladedancer, Marksman, Paladin, Arcanist, BattleMage, Cleric, Bard, Reaper, Slayer and Necromancer.
* **Switch classes** using class points. Your progress in each class is kept.
* **Every class has passive on-hit effects** that grow stronger as you level.
* **Skill trees.** Skill trees now show connected, glowing paths and an icon for whether a node is locked, available or taken.
  * **Bloodlines**: a lineage tree that starts at "Unfamiliar". You can follow one lineage, and its passives change how your character plays.
  * **Augments**: a tree that starts at "Ascent" and opens at Adventure level 100. Each augment unlocks the next one up its chain and gives its stats straight from the tree.
* **Adventure level** now goes to **100**. Questing and achievements give Adventure XP.
* **Prestige.** Prestiging is based on your main level, and every prestige gives you **2 attribute points**.
* **Attributes.** All of them now appear in the attribute menu, including Constitution, Wisdom, Charisma and Luck.
* **Every level-up gives points.** Levelling up now gives attribute, skill, class and skill-tree points.
* **Leaderboards** for levels and masteries. These started fresh with this update.

### Skills

* **50 elemental skills**, available to every class. They have no mana cost, only a cooldown.
* **7 skill slots**: 6 active and 1 passive. Bind them in `/skills`.

### Mastery rewards

* **Rewards by level.** Mastery levels are now grouped into bands of five, and each tile shows exactly what it rewards.
* **What each level gives.** Every level gives +1 to a stat, every 5th level is a milestone, and every 25th level is a grand milestone. Attribute points come from the milestones.
* **Level track pages.** The level track shows 20 levels per page, so a 200-level mastery fits on 2 pages.
* **Fishing and farming XP.** Fishing gives XP based on how rare the catch is, plus a bonus for better rods. Farming gives XP per crop, and slower-growing crops give more.
* **Crafting XP.** Crafting at a station now gives XP in that station's mastery.
* **Boosters.** Mastery boosters now work. "+50% to all masteries" boosts every mastery, and boosters last as long as they say.

### Gear and progression

* **Six new gear sets** extend the ladder past Mythril and Iridium, in this order:

  1. Mythril
  2. Iridium
  3. **Orichalcum**
  4. **Titanium**
  5. **Chlorophyte**
  6. **Ruby**
  7. **Uranium**
  8. **Amber**

  Each rung is crafted from the rung before it. Ruby gear takes Chlorophyte gear, upgraded or not.
* **Progression stations.** Anyone can open them, but each one only shows the recipe for its own catalyst. Craft the catalyst, wear it, and the station shows everything it makes. Take it off and the recipes hide again. In order:
  1. **Altar of the Accursed**: the dark and nightmare crafts, plus Orichalcum. The Ender Dragon drops **2–5 Dark Claws**, and 3 Dark Claws and 16 obsidian make its catalyst.
  2. **Altar of the Sacred**: Titanium. Its catalyst takes 3 True Black and 16 quartz blocks and Fighting Mastery 21.
  3. **Prismatic Forge**: Chlorophyte. Unlocked by **Prismatic Glasses**, made from 50 Raw Titanium and The Empress's **Prismatic Pearl** at the Altar of the Accursed or at either Chlorophyte station.
  4. **Regal Infusion Station**: Chlorophyte armour upgrades, behind the same Prismatic Glasses.
  5. **Hydra's Heart Forge**: Ruby. Unlocked by **Heartless**, made from 50 Raw Ruby and a **Hydra's Scale**.
  6. **Venomcraft Station**: Uranium. Unlocked by **Radioactive Protection**, made from 50 Uranium Clusters and an **Angelic Essence**.
  7. **Hellfire Crucible**: Amber. Unlocked by the **Hellfire Catalyst**, made from 50 Raw Amber and 5 Demon Cores.
* **Catalysts.** A new **Knowledge Slots** inventory holds up to 10 catalysts. Wear a station's catalyst here to see its recipes.
* **Health armour.** Armour now gives Health instead of Defense, and every armour piece is unbreakable.
* **New stat names**: Overhealth and Toughness.
* **Unbreakable blades.** Seven top blades never break: Lazarus, Palladium Reaver, Crystalite Saber, Bloodstone Cleaver, Ruby Duelist, Calamity Sword and Galenite Greatsword.

### Crafting stations

* **New stations**:

  * Master's Kitchen
  * Kitchen
  * Fisherman
  * Alchemy (Potions, Ancient and Stones)
  * Forager's Table
  * Miner's Table
  * Mythical Forge
  * Arcane Forge
  * Steel Crafting Station
  * Streetcrafter
  * Monstercrafter
  * Bosscrafter
  * Altar of the Accursed
  * Altar of the Sacred
  * Prismatic Forge
  * Regal Infusion Station
  * Hydra's Heart Forge
  * Venomcraft Station
  * Hellfire Crucible

  How you reach some of them in the world is still being finished.
* **Station blocks.** Each progression station is now a block you can place. Right-click it to open the station. Each one is crafted at the station before it, from 1 crafting table and 32 ingots of that station's metal. The Altar of the Accursed block is made at Advanced Crafting from Mythril, and the Hellfire Crucible block is made at the Venomcraft Station from Uranium. Four of them still have temporary textures.
* **Master's Workbench.** A placeable block made at Advanced Crafting from 1 crafting table and 16 Mythril Ingots. Right-click it to choose between the Forager's Table, Master's Kitchen, Miner's Table, Streetcrafter, the three Alchemy stations, the Monstercrafter and the Bosscrafter.
* **Advanced Workbench.** The crafting table has a new look and is now called the Advanced Workbench. Right-clicking one opens Advanced Crafting; sneak to place blocks against it. The Crafting button in your inventory still opens the classic 3×3 grid and still looks like the classic crafting table.
* **Over 1,100 recipes** across all stations.
* **Steel** is smelted at the Miner's Table: 64 iron makes 1 steel.
* **New Kitchen foods.** The Kitchen has 10 new foods. The Fisherman's Feast heals 99% of your health.
* **Bait and hook recipes** at the Fisherman:
  * Simple Bait
  * Magnetic Bait (Fishing 5)
  * Delicate Hook (Fishing 8)
  * Wild Bait (Fishing 11)
* **Runes**: 25 runes in 5 families of 5 tiers, all craftable.
* **Alchemy Stones** also sells the whole gem upgrade ladder.

### Bosses

* **Boss totems.** Craft one of 24 totems at the new **Bosscrafter**. Five of them summon a boss in the main world:
  * the Wither Storm
  * the Herald of Light
  * the Thunderblade Guardian
  * the Dreadhammer Guardian
  * the Astral Archon
* **New bosses** with their own models, sounds and multi-phase fights.
* **Gilded Guardian relics.** Four Gilded Guardian helmets drop as relics.
* **Hydra totem and wither-skull totem.**
* **Boss trophies.** 23 trophies, each with its own art. Killing a boss's final phase grants its trophy and achievement.

### Achievements

* **Five achievement tabs**, which replace the vanilla advancements:
  * **Story**: 14 steps. A balloon crash, the forest, Tom and his missing friend J'Marcus, the West Guild's Training Ground and oath, and your first rank-up. Wildlings take a secret route of their own.
  * **Quests**: 52 steps. A spawn tutorial (find the Hero Statue, register, choose your class, report to the Guild Master), then themed branches: exploring spawn, travelling out of it, survival, trade, travel, far places, crafting work, animals, combat and endurance
  * **Crafting**: 129 steps up every crafting chain, from gathering to the forges
  * **Hunting**: 24 steps, a boss tree across every dimension
  * **Settlers** (preview): 37 steps for towns, land and nations, ending with the legendary **Guild Blade**. Towns aren't open yet, so this tab is a preview of what is coming.
* **Rewards.** Achievements pay out, and deeper and harder ones pay more.
* **Quest tracker.** While you are on the tutorial or the story, the side of your screen shows your next step.
* **Adventurer rank card.** Your adventurer rank, from F up to S, is shown in the main menu and in the guild menu. Finish your first job for the guild to go from F to E.
* **Icons.** Every custom item has its own achievement icon.

### Fishing and farming

* **Fishing.** Fishing is a new minigame:
  * **125 fish** to catch across oceans, warm and deep waters, and lava
  * rods, baits and hooks
  * a fishing bag
  * a fishing codex
* **Fishing competitions** run on weekends. A ranking bar shows the standings, and the top three win coins, a crate key and fishing XP.
* **Farming.** Custom crops come with pots, fertilizers and scarecrows:
  * **Seasons**, shown on screen and in the codex
  * **Overgrown crops**, which are worth 10× and are Epic rarity
  * **Fish Meal** fertilizer, made from junk catches
* **The Gathering Market** buys both fish and crops.
* **Commands**: `/fish`, `/fishing`, `/bag`, `/market`, `/farm`.
* **Rarity frames** on all 168 fish and crop items.
* **Rod mastery levels.** Better rods need higher Fishing Mastery:

  | Rod     | Fishing Mastery needed |
  | ------- | ---------------------: |
  | Silver  |                      5 |
  | Golden  |                     12 |
  | Star    |                     20 |
  | Bone    |                     25 |
  | Magical |                     32 |
  | Master  |                     40 |

### Science and machines

* **A new science area.** Build machines, pipes and fluids, power them with diesel and electricity, move items around with logistics, and unlock it all through research. It has its own guide book and its own textures.

### Economy

* **Tokens.** Tokens are a new late-game currency for end-game space-wanderer content. You get them through a one-way exchange at 100,000,000 coins per Token.
* **Souls.** Each mob you kill gives you Souls, and Souls pay for repairs at the repair station.
* **Auction house.** Talk to the Auctioneer to buy and sell with other players.
* **Profile vault and wardrobe.** Every profile has its own storage. Open it from the Storage button in `/menu`.
* **The Gizmo Merchant.** A new shop for miscellaneous gadgets.
* **More things you can sell.** The shop now buys back 265 extra items, egg variants included. Sell prices are capped, so crafting something just to sell it can't make a profit.

### Crates and loot pouches

* **Seven crates**, each opened with its own key: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythical and Fabled. More than 500 real items can drop from them.
* **Loot pouches.** 14 pouches each give 1–3 random items that are used in recipes. Each pouch has a rarity and a theme. The Dark Loot Pouch is one of them.

### Items and looks

* **Rarity frames.** Every item has a tooltip frame that matches its rarity. Each rarity has its own frame art, and unobtainable items get a grey frame.
* **Five seasonal rarities**: Spring, Summer, Harvest, New Year and Christmas. Seasonal items never drop from random loot.
* **Rarity frames on ores.** Ore drops now have rarity frames. Mythril is Rare, and Palladium, Bloodstone, Galenite and Crystalite are Mythical.
* **New ingredients**:
  * Dark Essence
  * Divine Heart
  * Pressed Slimeball (64 slime balls at the Monstercrafter)
  * Necrotic Bone
  * Dense Flesh (10 Ghoul Tissue)
  * and more
* **Bone Plating**, a wearable chestplate that gives +3 health.
* **New textures** for 157 consumables, the boss trophies and many more items.
* **Fixed symbols.** Every stat uses one symbol in every menu, for example ☯ Luck, ⛨ Constitution, ★ Mana, ☀ Stamina and ❤ Health.

### On-screen display

* **On-screen display.** A new display shows your level, class, XP bar, mana, stamina, mastery levels and Tokens.
* **What you're holding.** While you hold a rod it shows your fishing mastery. While you harvest, it shows your farming mastery, the season and your harvest count.

### Menus and commands

* **Redesigned station windows.** Every crafting station window has new art, new lettering and real buttons.
* **Recipe ingredients.** Recipes show their real ingredient names, and a green tick marks ingredients you already have.
* **Progression hub.** The progression hub has buttons for Mastery, Guild, prestige, raids and gates.
* **Quick buttons** in your inventory's 2×2 crafting grid open crafting, accessories and the menu.
* **Commands**: `/menu`, `/menus`, `/accessories`, `/skills`, `/attributes`.
* **New panels** for Equipment, Knowledge Slots and the profile select screen.
* **NPCs.** Every NPC in town opens what it should: merchants, the Auctioneer, the Gizmo Merchant and the crafting stations.

  * **Ruby** at Hydra's Heart Forge
  * **Uranium** at the Venomcraft Station

  Mythril and Iridium stay at Advanced Crafting. Advanced Crafting also still turns any raw ore into a block of raw ore and back.
* **Dark Gel** is the Wither Storm's dark drop.
* **Dark Claw** is now an Epic, stackable drop from the Ender Dragon. It can't be crafted any more.
* **Many items renamed or merged**:

  | Fire Essence | **Fiery Essence** (Blazes now drop Fiery Essence) |
  | Rock Essence | **Compressed Stone** (Calcite and Dripstone still work at the Miner) |

  20 duplicate materials have been merged.
* **New recipes**:
  * **Life Stone** needs 64 emeralds and compressed stone, at Mining V.
  * **Undead Heart** has a new recipe.
  * **Vampiric Sword** now needs a Mob Cluster.
  * **Worked Stick** recipes have changed at every station that uses them.
* **Potions**:
  * Health and mana potions climb from Common to Uncommon, Rare and Epic.

  | ----------------- | --------- |
  | Silver Platter    | Legendary |

* **Dormant abilities.** Some items have an ability that isn't finished yet. Their tooltip now says the ability is dormant, so you know it does nothing for now.
* **Shelved armour.** Unfinished armour sets that couldn't be obtained have been taken out of the game. They will come back reworked as **Upcoming Items**.
* **Trophies** are flat items now, not heads, and they can't be placed.
* **10 leftover items** that could never be obtained have been removed.

### Shop

* **Prices.** Every price is a whole number, and nothing is free.
* **Selling for profit.** Ways to make a profit by crafting and then selling, such as with copper and amethyst, have been closed.
* **Renamed sections**:
  * "High-grade Minerals" is now **Post-Dragon Ores** and sits right after Ores.
  * "Custom Miscellaneous" is now **Advanced Ingredients**.
* **Mythril and Iridium Ingots** have moved into **Ores**.
* **Spawn eggs.** The shop now sells 37 spawn eggs, one for each spawner type, down from 86.
* **Removed from the shop**:

* **Hub icons.** Hub buttons have their own icons: dungeon key, portal, skull and star.

### World

* **World generation.** Custom ores, flowers and stones generate in the Overworld, the Nether and the End again.

***

## Fixes

### Joining and data

* **Kicked on join.** The first player to join after a restart was sometimes kicked.
* **Resource pack.** Newer game versions threw away the resource pack, so no custom textures showed at all. The pack now downloads properly after you join.
* **Lost data.** Balances, vaults and the wardrobe were sometimes lost when you logged out.
* **Missing profiles.** Profiles holding certain enchanted items could fail to load.
* **Old items.** Old items in profiles have been converted to the current versions.

### Economy and shop

* **The economy wasn't connected**, so shops and every menu did nothing.
* **Paid for nothing.** 225 shop items took your money and gave you nothing. These included every potion, splash potion, lingering potion, tipped arrow, enchanted book, goat horn, firework and spawner.
* **Mooshroom spawner.** Buying a mooshroom spawner didn't work.
* **Hidden categories.** Nine shop categories, Blocks among them, had no button and couldn't be opened.
* **One broken shop file** broke every shop.
* **Barrier.** You could buy a barrier block for 7 coins.
* **Extra paper.** Fisherman rods also gave you a piece of paper.
* **"When equipped:"** appeared on shop items where it didn't belong.

### Menus

* **Missing textures.** Every Go Back and Close button on the server showed a missing texture or was invisible. That was 114 buttons in 90 menus.
* **Raw colour codes.** Colours in 109 menu lines printed as raw codes.
* **Missing title art.** The main menu and guild menu title art didn't show.
* **Plain icons.** 35 menu buttons showed plain vanilla items instead of their icons.
* **Locked warps.** Every Fast Travel location was locked for everyone.
* **Wrong numbers.** Mastery menus showed numbers that weren't your real levels.
* **Wrong icons and sources.** Several source pages showed barrier icons or listed the wrong XP sources.
* **Raw text** showed in some menus instead of your stats.
* **The Storage button** in `/menu` opened nothing.
* **The profile vault** wouldn't let you put items in.
* **Misaligned menus.** Several menus, including the abilities menus and the profile select screen, were misaligned.
* **Page-turn sounds** were inconsistent.
* **Symbols in chat.** ★ and other symbols showed up as boss bars or rank art in text.
* **"Brick".** Some buttons were named "Brick".

### Crafting

* **Catalyst buttons.** The Knowledge Slots button on crafting stations did nothing.
* **Unreachable recipes.** 227 station recipes could never be reached.
* **"60 Paper".** Station recipes said "60 Paper" instead of the real ingredient.
* **Gem tiers.** The gem crafting menu showed only the first and last tiers.
* **Seed costs.** Farming seed recipes now cost materials from their own tier.

### Items

* **Items that didn't exist.** 94 items failed to exist, 101 more never loaded, and 9 shields were missing. All of them exist now.
* **Silver Sword.** The Silver Sword looked like a trophy, and the trophy looked like a sword.
* **Missing art.** Items missing their art now show a wrench instead of a barrier.
* **Missing textures.** Several foods had no texture, from Repulsive Dish to Berry Milk.
* **"Uncraftable Potion".** Around 112 potions and drinks showed as a blue "Uncraftable Potion".
* **EXP scrolls** gave nothing. They now give a good amount of EXP.
* **Gold Coin.** The Gold Coin was still being handed out after it was retired.

### Combat

* **Critical hits.** No player could land a weapon critical hit.
* **Duelist punches.** A new Duelist couldn't punch: attack speed and damage were 0.
* **Herald of Light and Light Warrior.** You could only hit them at their feet.
* **Herald of Light.** Its mirror-damage attack was broken, and killing it didn't grant its achievement.
* **Herald of Light glow.** The Herald of Light, the Light Warrior and the light projectiles lost their glow.

### World

* **World generation.** Custom ores, flowers, plants and stones had stopped generating.
* **Blue Frost Pansies** never generated.
* **Missing-texture plants.** 41 decorative plants showed as missing-texture boxes.
* **Crystalite ore** dropped nothing. It now drops raw crystalite.
* **Blazes** didn't drop the right loot.
* **Zombies** didn't drop rocks.
* **"Missing Item".** Breaking blocks sometimes dropped a barrier named "Missing Item".

***

## Known issues

* **Ability drops.** The extra-drop abilities do nothing for now. That means Bigger Scoop, Bountiful Harvest, Epic Catch, Geneticist, Lucky Catch, Lucky Miner, Lucky Spades, Lumberjack, Metal Detector and Treasure Hunter. They will be rebuilt.
* **Dormant items.** Some items carry a dormant ability, and their tooltip says so.
* **Unreachable stations.** A few crafting stations can't be reached in the world yet.
* **Later progression stations.** From the Prismatic Forge on, the catalysts can't be made yet. Their materials come from bosses and places that are still being built.
* **Settlers tab.** The Settlers achievement tab is a preview until towns open.
* **Science area textures.** A few science items, such as the health talismans and the solar lens, have no texture yet. The guide book and the steel sword and pickaxe use plain vanilla looks.
* **"Missing Item" barriers.** If one of these is still in your inventory, you can throw it away.
